ECO FASHION WEEK: Holt Renfrew Charity Shopping Night + Obakki Trunk Show

As shoppers milled about, fashionistas and media started positioning themselves on the rows of white chairs just inside the doors of Holt Renfrew Vancouver. I had the inside scoop from head-of-house Donna Sheer (Styleby Dona) that the escalators would be used in the runway show and to find a vantage point higher up. This proved later to be excellent advice!
Sponsors DAVIDsTEA and BE Coconut provided beverages at kiosks throughout the 3 level luxury shopping store and volunteers scurried around making sure the local who’s who were photographed against the numerous media walls.
Founded in 2005, all the Obakki collections are created, designed and manufactured in BC. This is the first year that Obakki will be featured at ECO Fashion Week even though founder and designer Treana Peake is from Vancouver and is married to Ryan Peake of Nickleback. Throughout the evening, Holt Renfrew hosted a charity shopping event where 10 percent of all sales went to the Obakki Foundation—a registered nonprofit that helps fund clean-water initiatives in Africa and has provided over 500 water wells and built 12 schools in South Sudan and Cameroon.
