This summer Target is partnering with top tastemakers to create a party collection that makes “Glamping” so easy! Glamping (if you are not in the know or a fan of the Real Housewives franchises) combines the ‘glamour’ of the city with the natural draw of ‘camping’. But what does a city girl know about camping? If memory does not fail me – plaid flannel, hiking boots, fire pit smoke, mosquito’s, eating out of tin cans and warm cider – now who wants to re-live those memories?!
This season Target, with the creative talents of local Pinterest superstars Poppytalk have created a party collection that lets you step into the wilderness in style. Whether it is your own backyard, the park down the street or amid the chaos of Kits Beach or English Bay you can create new memories with this fun collection.
Vancouverites Jan Halverson and her partner and husband Earl Einarson are Poppytalk and together they have an internationally lauded design blog on Pinterest. Their indie sensibility is conveyed through their many boards as they mine the beautiful, the decayed and the handmade, sharing inspirational DIYs, home designs and ideas for entertaining.
Launch day saw the Poppytalk collection transform the upper balcony of the Vancouver Art Gallery into a playful ‘glamping’ spot complete with life size cardboard Airstream trailer for campy photo fun, floral teepees, stuffed picnic baskets, fresh fruit and a banquet table adorned with beautifully patterned pressed paper cake stands, fold-out candelabra’s and serving bowls, hot pink plastic curlicue cutlery, dessert cups and straws. Mixing patterns, shapes and colours, the resulting products have a luxurious European flare with a touch of retro sentimentality…and most of it is recyclable if not reusable.
The award winning Culinary Capers provided a delicious spread of miniature cupcakes and scones, quiches, strawberry trifle cake with complementary fresh berry smoothies and mimosas. Launch party invitee’s included style bloggers, television personalities and lifestyle magazine contributors who milled around Instagram’ing the beautiful buffet, the floral camping scenes and even the eclectic glass bottles that held wild flowers on the side-tables. Everything was delicious and the Poppytalk collection was the special guest star.
Pieces from the collection range from $3 for paperware, $20 for a camping stove, to $25 for a large woven picnic basket. Very affordable for get-togethers with your friends and a great way to be frugal yet fashionable in the ‘wilderness’!
Get your Glamp on with the Poppytalk Collection, exclusive in Canadian stores only until the end of August!
