Kitsilano Kitty’s Closet was so pleased to be working with Australia’s Green Embassy and artist/designer Zuhal Kuvan-Mills in presenting the official artist talk in advance of her runway show at Vancouver Fashion Week.
Our workspace was transformed into the gorgeous studio of Green Embassy with the latest garments from the 100% certified organic couture line. Plus a delicious fresh fruit and baked goods buffet with fresh flowers to remind Zuhal of her flower garden back in Perth. Line creator Zuhal Kuvan-Mills presented a sneak peek to her Spring/Summer 2015 collection with the use of live models, mannequins and the Connected to the Land catalogue. She spoke for over an hour on the importance of sustainability in fashion and the process of being certified organic by GOTS. It was fascinating and informative and an event that was to end at 6pm ended a little before 9pm with attendees forming little pods around the space and discussing fashion, eco-sustainability, future projects and the upcoming fashion week.
We entertained more than 40 people over the course of the Tea & Talk including buyers, retailers, collectors, media and current clients. Most surprisingly was the acceptance of our invitation by Kevin Lamb, Consul General of Australia, who enjoyed meeting Zuhal and discussing business opportunities for organic fashion in Canada.
Kitsilano Kitty’s Closet is also pleased to announce that we will be the official representatives for Green Embassy in Vancouver, BC and will be working directly with retailers and interior designers to bring Atelier Zuhal textiles and homewares to Canada! More details coming in the new year!
