This annual events sees the Vancouver based Fluevog company generously donating 50% of the proceeds of all sales to CTYP. The retail floor was standing room only and according to the events co-organizer, Danielle Lemon, patrons spent over $25,000 in three hours!
The fun evening was hosted by Todd Talbot of hit television program ‘Love It or List It Vancouver’ and featuring vocal performances by CTYP’s Kayla Dunbar, Bonnie Duff and Amanda Testini. Talbot kept everyone happy, while waiting for the vigilant store staff to arrive with their sizes, with raffle prize draws for delicious Purdy’s chocolates and colourful Bon Macaron Patisserie’s macaroons.
More than just a host, Todd has a personal connection to the theatre and shared about CTYP, on social media, that “this company gave me my first job as a young theatre artist many moons ago. The work they do to give young audiences a glimpse into the magic of live theatre and how they continue to hire new up and coming artists should be applauded.”
In addition to the shoe sale, this year’s event also included a silent auction and prize draws from a number of Vancouver-based cultural organizations including Bard on the Beach, the Vancouver Art Gallery, Pirate Adventures and Vancouver Opera. Other prizes were provided by celebrated local restaurants such as Granville Island’s Bridges, Boca Del Lupo and Baru Latino.
Beverages generously provided by Granville Island Brewery, catering was a group effort of purchased and home baked desserts which included gorgeous deep chocolate cupcakes, and bright floral arrangements by Floral and Hardy.
We look forward to next year’s event and applaud everyone involved for their time and dedication.
