The OMEGA watch boutique in the elegant Fairmont Hotel was the perfect setting for the launch party of the new James Bond SPECTRE movie.
It was elbow to elbow but they were very classy elbows! The atmosphere was lively with the tunes of DJ Pri, who was joined sporadically at the decks, by society columnist Fred Lee. To satisfy the pre-movie munchies, there were numerous hot lamp stations with assorted hot sliders, two types of fries, a raw oyster bar, and a selection of wine, champagne and the signature James Bond martini.
The OMEGA introduced the Seamaster 300 luxury timepiece which has been James Bond’s watch since GoldenEye (1995), with its naval history and classic style, the watch perfectly reflects Bond’s character. To tie in with the newest Bond movie, fans and watch collectors will be able to buy the model worn by 007 in SPECTRE, as the sleek timepiece will be sold as a limited edition of just 7,007 pieces and priced at $8,050. By the end of the party, all the Vancouver stock (including the display) were sold-out.
Exuberant party-goers were then sent off into the drizzly night, to the Scotiabank Theatre with a gift bag containing hardcover catalogue and a custom SPECTRE 007 black umbrella.
For those who are not familiar (and have not seen the blockbuster), SPECTRE revolves around a cryptic message from the past which sends James Bond to Mexico City and Rome, where he meets a beautiful widow, played with elegance and sophistication by Monica Bellucci, of an infamous criminal. After infiltrating a secret meeting, 007 uncovers the existence of the sinister organization SPECTRE. Needing the help of the daughter of an old nemesis, he embarks on a mission to find her. As Bond ventures toward the heart of SPECTRE, he discovers a chilling connection between himself and the enemy he seeks.
