A brilliant Friday night should always start with a smooth showcase of local design. Drop-in, say hello, give and receive hugs, have a drink and a nibble, and then peruse what your favourite shop has been up to.
We’re passionate about sustainability and supporting local makers and that can be felt and seen in the space we’ve created. We want to challenge the stereotype of what shopping vintage means by showcasing our pieces in a minimalistic and modern setting and hopefully help more individuals open up to the idea of shopping recycled clothing.
This week Evan Ducharme announced a collaboration with contemporary vintage clothing company Hey Jude (created by Lauren Clark and Lyndsey Chow). Nestled in an all white chic boutique, Hey Jude finally has a permanent home and their patrons are pleased.
Evan’s limited edition jersey capsule collection features three unique dresses and are exclusive to Hey Jude. Three versatile pieces – wrap dress, tunic dress and a tank dress. Three pieces that are lightweight and in black, plum and ochre. For those of us who went black and grey this Fall/Winter season, these colours are so complimentary all of them will work their way into your fashion psyche.
There is a unique factor to the capsule collection collaboration in that all the dresses are made of eco-friendly bamboo jersey. The dry goods for the pieces were purchased, cut, sewn and made available for purchase within a 1 km radius of their inception.
We’ve been fans and friends of Evan’s since we both presented at Eco Fashion Week a few years ago. We were all chatting in the shop last month and the idea of creating a capsule for December came about. We wanted to keep it simple with 3 designs in an organic cotton jersey that could be dressed up for the holidays and also styled year round. We love how Evan sourced the fabric and designed and sewed each dress within a 1km radius of the shop. It doesn’t get much more local than that! – Lauren & Lyndsey
The new boutique offers a gorgeous selection of, not only clothing, but of apothecary and beauty products, leather good, found objects, textiles and accessories.
Hey Jude is a contemporary vintage clothing company that specializes in unique, trend forward pieces that are used as is or modified to modernize. They present beautiful seasonal collections complete with Look Books.
